Visual Cartography
‘Visual Cartography’ is “the pictographic means by which a schematically rendered composition explores and exposes the irreducibly quantifiable aspects of any given topic” This work shows how a subject is put together, functions interdependently or directly, using the actual signifiers of that aspect/element. It is a diagram, a working model, a map or ‘glyph’ of any conceivable subject, topic or theory. If specific faces, names, events and places cannot be signified, then symbolic representations using a universal ‘archetypal’ system is employed. Symbolism is a ‘language’ and is universal at its common core of inception.
